Vertical injection molding machines are widely used in fields such as electronics and medical care due to their advantages of small floor space and flexible operation. However, frequent use can easily lead to component wear and tear. Standardized daily maintenance can not only extend the service life of the equipment but also reduce the risk of sudden failures. The following is a summary of the key points for maintenance from the perspective of core components and systems.

  1. Hydraulic System: Dual Guarantee of cleanliness and sealing

As the "power heart" of the injection molding machine, the hydraulic system needs to pay attention to the quality of the oil and the condition of the pipelines. Before starting the machine every day, check the oil level in the oil tank to ensure that the hydraulic oil is above the low mark. Test the viscosity and acid value of the oil every quarter. Replace it immediately when the impurity content exceeds grade NAS 1638-9. It is recommended to use anti-wear hydraulic oil and intercept metal debris through a return oil filter (accuracy ≤10μm). The aging of sealing parts is the main cause of oil leakage. It is necessary to check whether the hydraulic cylinder and joints are leaking oil every month. When the rubber sealing ring is found to be hardened or cracked, it should be replaced in time. For servo hydraulic systems, it is particularly necessary to monitor the bearing temperature of the oil pump motor. Abnormal temperature rise (exceeding the ambient temperature by 30℃) may indicate a potential wear hazard.

Ii. Screw and Barrel: Anti-corrosion and uniform wear control

The screw barrel comes into direct contact with high-temperature molten plastic, and it is necessary to avoid metal oxidation and material residue. Before each shutdown, replace the residual raw materials with cleaning materials such as PP to prevent carbonization and coking. Disassemble the screw every week to check the thread wear. When the unilateral wear of the screw edge is greater than 0.1mm, it needs to be repaired or replaced. For glass fiber reinforced materials, it is recommended to use double alloy screws and spray tungsten carbide coating to enhance wear resistance. The temperature deviation of the barrel heating ring needs to be inspected daily. The displayed value is compared with the actual temperature through an infrared thermometer. When the temperature difference exceeds ±5℃, the temperature control module is calibrated. Regularly clean the surface area of the barrel to prevent local overheating and aging of the insulation layer.

Iii. Clamping Mechanism: Lubrication and precision calibration are carried out in parallel

The guide pins and sliders of the clamping system need to be kept lubricated. It is recommended to use lithium-based grease (NLGI grade 2) and apply it to the key moving parts per shift. Measure the parallelism of the template monthly. Use a dial indicator to detect the diagonal error. When the deviation exceeds 0.05mm, calibrate by adjusting the nut. For electric injection molding machines, attention should be paid to the preload of the ball screw to avoid affecting the mold closing accuracy due to increased clearance. The limit switch and mechanical lock of the security door need to be tested daily to ensure the sensitivity of the interlocking function. Regularly check the tightening torque of the column-shaped nut. Use a torque wrench to retighten it as required in the equipment manual (for example, the M30 nut needs to reach 1200N · m) to prevent the attenuation of the clamping force.

Iv. Electrical System: Dust-proof, moisture-proof and contact maintenance

The electrical control cabinet should maintain an IP54 protection level. The filter screen of the cooling fan should be cleaned monthly to prevent dust accumulation from causing the inverter to overheat and alarm. Check the erosion of the contactor contacts. Replace them immediately when the thickness of the silver alloy contacts is worn by more than 50%. Monitor the temperature of the IGBT module of the servo driver to ensure that it is less than 80℃ during operation. For models equipped with PLC, back up the program every quarter and check the battery voltage (replace when the lithium battery is lower than 2.7V) to prevent data loss. Before the thunderstorm season, test the grounding resistance, which should be ≤4Ω, to prevent lightning strikes from damaging the circuit board.

  V. Environmental Management: Comprehensive Control of temperature, Humidity and Vibration

Injection molding machines should be installed in an environment with a temperature ranging from 10 to 35℃ and a humidity of less than 70%, avoiding direct sunlight and proximity to water sources. The foundation needs to be poured with a concrete vibration isolation layer to ensure that the levelness of the equipment is ≤0.1mm/m, preventing the displacement of the mold and the eccentric wear of the screw caused by vibration. If there are multiple pieces of equipment in the workshop, it is recommended to arrange them at intervals of more than 1.5 meters and reserve maintenance passages.
